Stories of the Avalanche is the sixth studio album from shape-shifting East Van collective Kingsway, and
the second Kingsway album to feature The Great Outdoors. Created in partnership with award-winning
producer/engineer (and Kingsway member) Jesse Gander at Vancouver’s Rain City Recorders, Stories of
the Avalanche is a heartfelt and hooky collection of songs about death… and rebirth.

Kingsway & The Great Outdoors’ first offering – 2010’s Belvedere Half-Court – left the West Coast indie underground thirsty for more. Well worth the wait, 2023’s Stories of the Avalanche delivers. Some call the sound Johnny Cash & The Pixies. Others push a Dinosaur Jr. & Bright Eyes agenda. There’s even been a few Lou Reed & Silver Jews comparisons. These are all flattering, but the truly unique sound of Stories of the Avalanche can really only be described as Kingsway & The Great Outdoors – a harmonious and hopeful blend of bands that enjoyed their creative reunion so much, they have already started recording their next fresh release: A Soundtrack for Dealing Weed in North Delta.

As with all Monteagle releases, Stories of the Avalanche is also available on limited-edition vinyl.
